Some of my earliest memories are of making pictures. I remember often skipping recess in kindergarten to stay in class and finish a painting. In elementary and high school art and history were my favorite subjects, and my best grades were for illustrated reports. While I've never stopped making my own art, as the director of the galleries at the School of Visual Arts in New York, I've been able to support young, aspiring artists to learn how to exhibit their work. For over 25 years being involved in hundreds of student shows has been a deeply rewarding aspect of living a life in the arts.
I was born in 1953 and raised mainly in Europe, due to my parents' work for the US Foreign Service. I studied at the International University of Art and the Fine Arts Academy in Florence, Italy, and hold a degree in the Arts from the State University of New York.
